How to Find and Maximize Intern Labor for Your Print Business
The post-lunch lull was nowhere to be found when Randy Hawthorne took the stage at Printing Hub 2012 to deliver his presentation, “Finding and Maximizing Intern Labor in Your Community.”
Hawthorne’s presentation was the perfect follow-up to the session from Andy Paparozzi, who argued that interns are invaluable to printers who need to innovate. And Hawthorne enjoyed an audible reaction from printers salivating at his idea of saving time by taking on interns. According to Hawthorne, printers can save time by hiring interns to complete time-consuming tasks, including social media and data-mining.
Most interns are millennials, whom Hawthorne profiles as:
- Flexible
- Adaptable
- Inclusive
Millennials also thrive with a great deal of coaching and feedback. To manage your millennial interns, hold weekly touch-base meetings (Hawthorne relies on them) to keep in touch.
We’re off to the next Printing Hub 2012 presentation from Jay Wilkinson, “How to Build a Culture that Will Drive Your Business Forward.”
