Stare Death in the Face—How Jeffrey Hayzlett Brought the Crowd to Life at Printing Hub 2012
They call him a turnaround architect of the highest order. A fearless entrepreneur for whom risk goes down easily, like water.
When global business celebrity Jeffrey Hayzlett took the stage at Printing Hub 2012, the marketing powerhouse had a room full of eager ears. His reputation as a “self-made business titan” definitely preceded him.
Hayzlett started by exclaiming that he’s “the biggest fan of print since Gutenberg!” And with that, they were hooked. For the rest of his keynote the audience hung on every word.
Hayzlett’s electrifying presentation taught attendees to develop a “takeover mentality” for their businesses, starting with driving change and building tension. Change-driving tension builds when you:
- Don’t settle
- Create competition
- Stir it up
- Ask Why
Hayzlett went on to outline four rules to remember when driving change:
- Mood – Change the mood in your business
- Rule of Thirds – Get Rid of Employees who can’t change
- Change the Questions – Lead by asking the right questions
- Make it Better in the New Place – Make your business better than where it’s been
It’s no secret that we’re huge fans of best-selling author Jeffrey Hayzlett. We consider his book Running the Gauntlet a must-read for printers becoming marketing services providers. As Hayzlett said, “We’re gonna make lots of mistakes. Make mistakes! You’re not gonna kill your company! Push it.”
